Farmsmojo directly finances farm forestry projects throughout the Indian territory. The idea is to realise sustainable ecosystems and allow thousands of farmers to support the initial costs of planting new trees, ensuring food autonomy and income opportunities over time.
The realisation of farm forestry systems allows us to make precise choices about specific characteristics and needs of each project area. Tree species planted are either native or respect the biodiversity of different territories. The farm forestry practice also integrates the planting of trees in an agricultural system, favoring the virtuous interaction between the different species and sustainable use of resources and land. Finally, all trees absorb CO2 in the course of their growth, naturally benefit the entire planet.
A typical carbon footprint is 3-5 t depending on the area one lives in, driven by lifestyle specific factors, while a full grown plant after 5 years can absorb 1t of CO2. Illustration: If you live in Delhi, aged 40 years with an assumed life span of 65 years ( Yes, pollution reduces 10 years lifespan in Delhi*). You need to plant 325 plants to be carbon negative for self or 1,300 plants for the family, ie work out just 50,000 / year for the whole family ( less than the budget set aside to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries of your family members. Farmsmojo will finance projects as a collective whole in rural communities in India - identify, empower and sustain them. The trees planted along with their fruits belong to the farmers, allowing them to diversify and supplement their income and in some cases to launch micro-entrepreneurship initiatives. Financing the planting of new trees with Farmsmojo serves as a means to support the trees (in the first step of capital expense of planting and farmer taking over the operation expense of 5 years when they are not yet productive in terms of fruit-bearing).

Follow your plant
Farmsmojo buys good quality trees from nurseries and helps plant, and build logistics around it to secure. Once bought the farmer takes care of operational expense and secure its growth into a fruit-bearing trees.
